TEEG Annual Campaign Recognized for Communications Excellence
Thompson, CT – June 14, 2007: The 2006 Annual
Campaign for Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group (TEEG) received a Silver Mercury
Award from the Public Relations Society of America Connecticut Valley Chapter (PRSA-CVC)
for creative and strategic excellence.
The community relations campaign included an Annual Report that showcased images
of New England stonewalls as a metaphor of what TEEG represents for communities of
the Quiet Corner – perseverance, strength, stability, connectedness, longevity,
heritage, community, building, permanence, and more. Other elements of the campaign
included outreach to local business and community organizations, print and radio
advertising, radio public service announcements and enhancements to the TEEG Web
site (www.teegonline.org).
In January 2007, the Northeast Chamber of Commerce honored TEEG by awarding the
organization the annual George H. Racine humanitarian award. In presenting the award,
Don St. Onge commented on the impact of the TEEG 2006 Annual Report “If you
know what TEEG does and the people they serve, many would probably say the Annual
Report doesn’t matter. But it’s important to help the community at large
understand what the TEEG mission is in meaningful ways that keep people informed,
keep them engaged, keep them giving. This year’s TEEG Annual Report was excellent
in this regard. It was simple yet complex. The stonewalls were a perfect symbol to
convey the TEEG message.” |

“With the theme Step by Step, the 2006 campaign was the most successful ever in
terms of getting our message out and reaching the community,” said Donna Grant, TEEG
Executive Director. “Northeast Connecticut is truly an amazing place. It is a real
privilege to do this work in a community where so many generous people are ready and willing
to help those in need.”
MAD Communications of East Hampton, CT, Pelton Graphics of Windsor, CT and award-winning
photographer Jack McConnell of Wethersfield,
CT donated their creative time and talents
to TEEG to develop the 2006 annual campaign. “We are proud to donate our time and
services to benefit such a worthy organization that does so much for so many,” said
Mary Ann Dostaler, owner of MAD Communications. “It is extremely gratifying that
our efforts to help TEEG strengthen its presence in the community have been recognized
by PRSA for excellence in communications.”
The Mercury Awards are sponsored by the Connecticut Valley, Southern Connecticut and Westchester/
Fairfield chapters of the Public Relations Society of America. The awards recognize outstanding
work in the public relations, communications and marketing professions and are designed
to honor creative and strategic excellence, and to encourage a higher level of performance
in the field. |
