Looking for even MORE ways to get involved? TEEG (along with our community partners) hold a number of annual events, which always need an extra hand, or two, or five! Check out our ANNUAL EVENTS page for information!

Every Story Has a Hero…
Ours has three! John Rice of Thompson, Chairman of our Building Committee and Volunteer Clerk of the Works; Steve Lewis of Thompson, a member of our Building Committee and Volunteer Architect; and Charlie Weedon of Pomfret, a member of our Building Committee, Volunteer General Contractor and Energy Conservation Consultant.

TEEG Volunteers

We dedicated this year’s 25th Anniversary Annual Report to these three very special men, our local heroes. There are countless individuals who heard the bell ring – literally hundreds who answered the call – but none so unselfishly or with such commitment to the cause as these three. TEEG as an agency is grateful, and Northeast Connecticut is richer, forevermore.

Become a Part of TEEG

Volunteer individually, with your community organization or with your company…

If community spirit is the heart of TEEG, then volunteerism is our soul. Our agency was born through the spirit of volunteerism. We continue to serve thousands more than our staff could ever reach because of the countless volunteers who are always stepping up to lend a hand.

TEEG has been blessed with caring, generous individuals from Thompson and beyond who give freely of their time and talents to help us meet our mission. They come to distribute food to those less fortunate, prepare a holiday meal, mow a lawn, weed a garden, answer our phones, or file stacks of paperwork. We couldn’t do it without you!

Food Security Volunteer Opportunities

Our food work relies on a great many volunteers to pick-up, process and distribute donated food into our regional system of service agencies. This allows for some unique and very fulfilling volunteer opportunities. We are also responsible for monthly CT Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry staffing at St. Mary’s Church in Putnam, which occurs on the last Tuesday of each month from 10-11 am.   Our own pantry is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday each week and we have a consistent need for volunteers to help distribute food to our clients.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please call 860.923.3458.
