Discovery Steering Committee

A team of community parents, educators and citizens developing an agenda for early education in Thompson. The Discovery Steering Committee is working with the School Readiness Council, day care centers, town government, churches and local schools to plan for the future success of Thompson’s littlest citizens.

Last year, Thompson was proud to be one of only 49 communities out of all 169 towns in Connecticut to be a recipient of a Discovery Grant from the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund.

A volunteer effort coordinating the resources of numerous community members and TEEG, Discovery involves creating a community-developed action plan to provide academic, social and emotional supports for all children in Thompson ages birth to eight. It is a long-term initiative that will unfold over the course of a seven-year period.
